Description
Pouchong tea comes from the famous village of Pinglin in the Whenshan Mountains of Taiwan. 90% of the population here works in tea production. The leaves are shortly withered outdoor and then indoor, panned, rolled, and finally dried.
The oxidation is light at around 10-18% to retain the tea’s sweet, floral character. That results in a jade green tone of the dry leaves.
However, the dry leaves are not typical of a green oolong. That is because the leaves are twisted and slightly curled, instead of rolled into balls.
